The Music of
St. Michael’s Abbey

Important Legal Notice The digital recordings of our choir singing Gregorian Chant and Sacred Polyphony are COPYRIGHTED. You are welcome to download the samples here for personal use and private listening. Under no circumstances may they be SOLD or BROADCAST, or included in any way as part of any commercial venture, including but not limited to advertising. If you make a copy of one or more of these online recordings for someone else, it must be as a GIFT (without recompense) AND proper credit must be included on the copy. If you’re short on space, it is sufficient to write “StMichaelsAbbey.com” on the copy. Under no circumstances are our CD’s to be copied.

Since the 1960’s, when St. Michael’s was founded, the St. Michael’s Abbey Choir has been known for excellence in Gregorian Chant and Sacred Polyphony. Visitors from all over the world participate in our liturgies, and our albums have sold well for many years. The sound is vibrant and alive, sung by a steadily-growing body of young men (see our age chart) either studying for the Norbertine priesthood or already engaged in the many Norbertine apostolates. Yes, all of our abbey community members are also choir members! Father Jerome Molokie does an expert job as our Music Director.

To those who have purchased our music on CD’s in the past: Thank you! We are now releasing a whole new batch of albums of Gregorian Chant and Sacred Polyphony, with entirely new selections, digitally recorded and mastered, and benefitting from the new acoustics of our renovated abbey church!

Speaking of which... the only way to hear our choir sounding even better than on our CD’s is to hear us LIVE, in the abbey church! Please check out our liturgy schedule and calendar of events for details. We’d love to have you join with us as we sing our prayers to God!

Meanwhile, here’s a little sampler of recordings of our choir, three tracks selected from our “Cantemus Domino” album; one track from each of its three sections, namely, Gregorian Chant, Easter Vigil Tracts, and Sacred Polyphony. The files are large because they’re very hi-fi, so be sure to listen to them on a good sound system! You might hear birds chirping nearby and trucks rumbling in the distance, because we make all our recordings “live” in the abbey church, not in a soundproofed recording studio. If you don’t have a fast connection, right-click on the file and select “Save Target As...” to save a copy of the file on your hard disk; that way, you can listen to it after it downloads. We hope these recordings serve as an echo of good times long ago, and as a reminder of God’s presence with us today and always!

Yours in Christ and Saint Norbert,

Abbot Eugene Hayes, Father Jerome Molokie, and the whole St Michael’s Abbey community.
